The analysis of natural ventilation in large spaces examines the natural ventilation of buildings with large spaces during summer and calm conditions. In large spaces, there is often a trial-and-error approach to maintaining a comfortable temperature distribution by relying not only on air conditioning but also on natural ventilation. During summer and transitional periods, the temperature distribution within the space often stratifies, with higher temperatures at the top due to solar radiation and wall conduction. Therefore, if there are openings at the upper part, density-driven convection can occur, allowing hot air to be expelled outside the building. In recent thermal environment analyses, if the size, position, and opening ratio of the openings are known, it is also possible to directly calculate the ventilation airflow rate. Among these, a ventilation method that uses shafts installed within the building as exhaust and supply air systems has been considered from the basic design stage to efficiently carry out natural ventilation. The selection of appropriate locations and sizes for supply and exhaust openings is of great importance, and conducting thermal airflow simulations allows for insights into the overall operation of the building.
